A letter from Gallipoli
Dear Mum & Dad
I really miss you both so much that it seems like years since I have seen the two of you. We have just landed safely in Gallipoli but the thought of death can not escape me. Before we landed in Gallipoli one of our, men found a chook and we kept it for food but we couldn’t bring it to Gallipoli. We are still hiding in the trenches near the beach. The Turks have also been able to establish their positions. A lot of our men have been killed but more are still wounded. We are also playing a trick or outwitting the Turks. We have decided to outwit the Turks by having a small group of soldiers who are to stay at the battlefront. We are going to keep our guns firing so that the Turks do not realize what is going on. I will hopefully send you another letter soon. I love you both dearly.
From your loving son, George
