Why Jaguars Attack Animals but not Humans
In the dreamtime, a lot of animals lived in the forest. One of them, the most ferocious, was the jaguar. The jaguar was not like some of the other animals. It was a carnivore and not a herbivore. Even the cows and horses that lived in the grassy plains near the forest were scared of the jaguar.
Then, one day, a group of different creatures came venturing through the forest. All of the animals saw them and ran away. The crocodile, who lived in the part of the forest where the jaguar lived, went to tell the jaguar about the different creatures that had come venturing through the forest.
The jaguar had not seen the creatures come into the forest for the jaguar had been sleeping. The jaguar was very angry when he had been woken up but was delighted when he heard about the new creatures that had come into the forest. “What do they look like?” the jaguar asked the crocodile. “Well, they stand on their hind legs and in one arm they carry a very sharp stick.” replied the crocodile. So with that, the jaguar set off to attack. The jaguar waited until sunset because jaguars attack when it is dark. So, he set off to catch his prey. Even though it was dark, he could still see the creatures. With only one look, he returned back with no prey. For the first time in its life, he was scared of a creature.
That is why jaguars attack animals but not humans.
